Grant opens January 1st   and closes May 31st  and funds must be expended by June 30, 2023

This grant supports providers who are striving to meet safe sleep standards. Programs interested in applying should call 211 and ask to speak to their regional Health Consultant or log into RISE and click on "Request a Grant Orientation".

The grant is designed to support the sleep needs of children 0-12 months old, but can additionally support the sleep needs of children older than 12 months. Applications can be submitted as a REIMBURSEMENT GRANT or DIRECT PAYMENT GRANT (to an approved vendor) and can cover the cost of safe sleep supporting items and resources for your program. There is no cap on the amount an applicant can submit, but a program can only apply ONCE.

Grants are an extension of a facility’s Quality Improvement Action Plan and are intended to support quality improvement goals linked to identified IdahoSTARS quality domains and subcategories. If funding is approved, recipients must agree to complete the post-reflection questions of the application before being eligible for any future grants.

In order to receive funds, grantees will participate in safe sleep practice improvement coaching and the development of a quality improvement plan for their program.

The following items are eligible for funding through this grant:

  • Safe Sleep PD
  • Sleep sacks
  • CPSC certified pack n plays, cribs
  • Books for facilities to give to parents of infants
  • Crib sheets
  • Mats and cots
  • Evacuation crib when appropriate

How to Apply:

Your regional Health Consultant will provide coaching in safe sleep practice improvement and develop a quality improvement action plan. After an action plan is created, programs become eligible to apply in RISE.

To submit for a REIMBURSEMENT, funds are authorized to be covered after the purchases (within the grant window) are made and receipts are submitted through RISE along with the application. Receipts for reimbursement must be dated no earlier than the launch of the Safe Sleep Grant.

To submit for a DIRECT PAYMENT to an education/training entity or verified vendor, select/enter the vendor name and enter the safe sleep related trainings or materials you wish to purchase for your business.

Eligibility:

  • Licensed child care providers designated as large, small, group, or family can apply.
  • Applicants must be licensed or ICCP certified (city licensing accepted and pending renewals/addresses/facility type updates accepted).
  • Head Start Providers are NOT eligible for these funds.
  • Applicants may only apply once.
  • Applicants with incomplete reflection questions from previous grants (Successful Start, Quality Improvement, or Accreditation) are NOT eligible.
  • Only COMPLETE applications will be considered.
  • Grantees will participate in safe sleep practice improvement coaching and the development of a quality improvement plan for their program.

 

 

Funding Guidelines & Tax Considerations:

• Funding is distributed from Idaho AEYC and counts as income.

• Funding will be reported on Form 1099-MISC.

• Funding is not guaranteed. Grants may be funded in whole, in part, or denied.

• Recipients cannot profit off any purchases made with grant funding.

• If approved, recipients agree to complete the post-reflection questions of the

application before being eligible for any future grants.
