Child's finger pushing sand into a plastic container to make a block.

If you haven't played with kinetic sand yet, you are missing out on something really fun! There are a variety of reasons why kinetic sand is great for sensory play.

First, it is moldable, so children can build, sculpt, and play with it almost any way they can think of. It also builds these skills:

  • Fine motor skills (finger strengthening, dexterity, in hand manipulation, etc.)
  • Bilateral coordination skills (using both hands together to mod and shape)
  • Visual motor skills such as eye-hand coordination
