2022-2023 Higher Education Grants

Higher Education Grants are available from the IdahoSTARS project for the 2022-2023 academic year.

To qualify for a grant, you must meet the following qualifications:

  1. Pursuing a degree or single course in Early Childhood Education at an Idaho accredited institution of Higher Education*
  2. Must meet at least one of the following residency requirements:
    1. Permanent Idaho resident
    2. Work in ECE in Idaho
    3. Attend school in person in Idaho

*Idaho residents attending an out-of-state school may qualify on a reimbursement basis only (see reimbursement section below).

Grants are awarded by semester and a separate application will be required for each. Payments are made directly to your school on your behalf.

The following grants are available:

  • Full Time Grant
    • Minimum of 12 semester credits (9 graduate)
    • 2-yr Schools (+ BYU-I) = $2,750
    • 4-yr Schools = $5,000

  • Part Time Grant
    • Minimum of 6 semester credits (5 graduate)
    • 2-yr Schools (+ BYU-I) = $2,000
    • 4-yr Schools = $3,500

  • Single Course Grant
    • Single ECE class
    • Pays the exact amount of tuition

You must apply through the IdahoSTARS RISE Database. If you do not already have a RISE account, you will be required to create one. (Instructions on creating a RISE account and applying for the grant.) From your RISE dashboard, navigate to Scholarships and Awards. Be sure to select “Higher Education Grant Application.”

Application Deadlines: (A separate application is required for each semester)

Fall Semester:  July 1, 2022

Winter Semester: TBD

Spring Semester: TBD

Summer Semester: TBD

** All grants are subject to availability of funding.

2022-2023 Higher Education Reimbursement Grants:

Higher Education Grants are available from the IdahoSTARS project for the 2022-2023 academic year for ECE students who have paid tuition out of pocket or with student loans.

To qualify for a grant, you must meet the following qualifications:

  1. Pursuing a degree or single course in Early Childhood Education at an accredited institution of Higher Education
  2. Have made qualifying payments toward your semester tuition
    1. Only out of pocket expenses or student loan payments will qualify. Tuition paid by other grants/scholarships will not be considered.
  3. Must meet at least one of the following residency requirements:
    1. Permanent Idaho resident
    2. Work in ECE in Idaho
    3. Attend school in person in Idaho

Grants are awarded by semester and a separate application will be required for each. Payments are made directly to you at your provided address and require a current W9.

Reimbursement Grants are available for qualifying tuition payments and have a maximum possible allowance of $4,500 ($5,000 graduate) per semester.

You must apply through the IdahoSTARS RISE Database. If you do not already have a RISE account, you will be required to create one. From your RISE dashboard, navigate to Scholarships and Awards. Be sure to select “Higher Education Reimbursement Grant Application.”

A separate application is required for each semester.

Applications will not be accepted until after the last add/drop date for a full refund for your semester has passed.
