IdahoSTARS continues to showcase the highest quality child care facilities in the State. Meet real-life examples of quality child care, celebrate their successes, and see the possibilities for other child care providers reaching the same goals.

Please join us in celebrating Bonna Fahey, Owner and Director of Bonna’s All Stars in Chubbuck. Fahey has earned a Steps to Quality, Step 4 rating. In this question-and-answer series with Fahey from October 4, 2021, learn more about her experiences becoming recognized as a high-quality child care facility:

IdahoSTARS: What are you most proud of about your facility?

Fahey: I am most proud of the fact that the kids know that they are loved!  They're learning social skills, patience, tolerance along with the ABC's and numbers, colors, and shapes.

IdahoSTARS: What are your future goals for your facility?

Fahey: My future goals for my facility are to continue to make a difference the life of a child and their family.

IdahoSTARS: Can you describe your journey through the Steps to Quality program?

Fahey: When I began my journey into Steps to Quality there was a lot of paperwork and I had to learn to document things that I wasn't used to but once I got into it, it has really been good for me, for the families I serve, and for the kids.

IdahoSTARS: What attributes does someone need to be successful in reaching the higher steps of Steps to Quality?

Fahey: To be successful, I think you just need to be dedicated to childcare and teaching children and be willing to do whatever it takes to make your business better.

IdahoSTARS: Knowing “success” is not only being measured by step advancement, in what ways other than a step rating have you measured your success in Steps to Quality?

Fahey: I don't judge my success by Steps to Quality (sorry).  My success comes from happy kids who love to learn, treat each other with respect, and will work hard to accomplish something.

IdahoSTARS: What challenges did you face to reaching the higher steps of Steps to Quality? How did you overcome those challenges?

Fahey: I couldn't get insurance on my home in the beginning, and I had a trampoline.  Those were obstacles that held me back.  Just last year, I found a company who would insure me, and yesterday I sold my trampoline.

IdahoSTARS: What motivated you to participate in Steps to Quality? In what ways did you utilize regional office or coaching supports to help you increase quality in your facility?

Fahey: Judy Boren from the Idaho Stars Region 6 office helped me see that it would be a good thing for my business.  She helped me every step of the way and I am glad she did!  It has been a positive experience for me.
